Prada SS11 Shoe

by Andrew

Oh Prada have done it again, with their gasp-inducing shoes. What with the hype caused by those studded brogues from last A/W, Prada have now combined the brogue upper with a platform and a jagged, shark toothy sole.

The result is something odd indeed. On the plus side, they have developed on the classic brogue and delivered something striking and new. On the other hand, the mid sole which appears to be covered in espadrille – type braided jute, seems like a step too far out of the conservative world of mens shoes at the moment.

Maybe in light of the austere times ahead, we should use the Brogadrille (?) as a symbol of a more carefree time in which it was acceptable to combine materials from the opposite side of the spectrum, to create a strange but still quite beautiful shoe.
